The Weather Outside Is Frightful

Freezing weather has come to Pearland. You've already prepared by wrapping your pipes, covering your plants, and bringing your pets inside.  Now you’re ready for this very cold weather to get worse.  The low tonight will be around 25 with a 20% chance of snow and sleet this afternoon then more likely tonight along with some freezing rain.   According to the Houston Chronicle, school closings are being announced, Houston area traffic is flowing smoothly, road crews are ready, and hopefully we’ve seen the last of the rolling blackouts. Pictures will be added here as they become available. For the latest updates, visit our blog.

2010 Texas High School Football Division I Champions

The Texas state championship 5A Division 1 game was played in front of more than 43,000 people against Euless Trinity on December 18 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington and the Pearland Oilers were victorious. In beating Trinity 28-24, the undefeated Oilers became Texas State Champs! This was the first time Pearland won the high school football crown.

Here's a You Tube video of a third quarter play Coach Tony Heath called a "dead man" play in which quarterback Trey Anderson threw a 54 yard touchdoown pass to receiver Sam Ukwuachu. Senior running back Dustin Garrison was named the boys athlete of the week by the Houston Chronicle for his performance in the game as well as offensive MVP at the game.

Congratulations Oilers on an unbelievable season!
